I'm really happy to show you my new amazing free crochet pattern. It's a crochet summer top for a little girl of five or six years old. What is the favorite toy of all little girls the last few years? Right! LOL dolls. My daughter adores them. She brought me an idea of a summer crochet top with this LOL doll picture. I'm really happy with the result. I think it is one of the most impressive things I ever done. It's truly one-of-a-kind. I made a very detailed free crochet pattern for it. The pattern is very comprehensive and I hope it gives you an opportunity to make the same garment for you little daughter or your granddaughter.

Hope you enjoy this pattern and give it a try.

I’m continually in the process of adding new patterns, so watch for those in the coming weeks!

- Width: 25,2"/ 63 cm.

Model Stats: Model wears size 5yrs. Height: 3ft 9" (114cm).

Gauge

33 single crochets and 36 single crochet rows = 4’’ (10 cm) using size 2 mm crochet hook.

Take time to check gauge.

Firstly you have to make a central crochet motif with the picture.

Finished measurements of the Motif: 5,6" (14 cm) - in width and 4,6" (11,5) cm - in length  = 46 single crochets in width and 42 single crochet rows in length

Main Motif (with a LOL doll)

Begin at bottom edge, chain 47 using white yarn.

Row1: 1 single crochet in the 2nd chain from the hook, single crochet  in each stitch  to  the end, turn.

Row2: 1 chain, single crochet in each stitch to the end, turn.

chart

Row3: beginning with the Row3 you will make the picture with different yarn colors. According to the diagram you should make 6 white single crochets and then 3 red single crochets. Work as follows: 1 chain, single crochet in each of the next 5 stitches, working the 6th single crochet leave it unfinished - you have two loops on the hook (see picture 1b). To finish this stitch grab the red color yarn with your crochet hook (see picture 1c), pull the red color yarn through both loops on the hook. Then work single crochet in each of the next 2 stitches with red yarn  as usual, working the 3rd single crochet with red yarn leave it unfinished (see picture 1f) as you did with the 6th white single crochet before, grab the white color yarn with your hook and pull up a loop changing color (see picture 2a).

picture 1

Do not fasten off the threads as far as you will use them later. Carry the previous yarn along the wrong side of the fabric so that it is ready to pick up again the next time it is needed.  You should leave a piece of yarn between two the same color rows that is equal to the width of the stitches between them.

 picture 2

Use this way of changing colors making the full pattern of the main motif.

See work in progress pictures below:

After completing the main motif do not fasten off the last white thread. Cut off the rest of the threads and weave in any remaining ends on the wrong side of the motif, then press the motif through the wet cloth (see picture 9).

Keep on working and work round the motif. Work the row of the single crochets the same as the last row of the motif (see picture 10), then work 1 more single crochet in the last stitch (see picture 11).

Make the same with the left shoulder working from the wrong side (reversing shaping) (means Row1 - wrong side, Row2 - right side and so on). Fasten off and weave in your threads.

picture 28

Make the same shoulders for the Front. To start join yarn with a slip stitch at the second chain of the corner chain-2 space as it is shown in the picture 28a. Then work the same as Back.

Then join the front and back of the shoulder with each other. Work 3 chains, then single crochet in the lowest point of the other part of the shoulder and turn (see picture 30).

picture 30

And then work: *2 chains, single crochet in the next chain-5 space, 2 chains, skip 3 stitches of the current part of the shoulder, single crochet in the next stitch,  repeat from * to the end (see pictures 31-32).

picture 31

Work 3 chains and single crochet in the highest point of the opposite part of the shoulder to finish the joining (see picture 33). Fasten off.

picture 33

Join the side seams.

Put the front and the back together, right side to right side. You can pin them to keep  the pieces evenly. Insert hook in the lowest stitches of the both thicknesses, pull up the loop, work single crochet in the same stitch to join the both pieces. Then work as follows: * 2 chains, skip the space approximately equal to the chain-2 space, work single crochet in the both pieces joining them, repeat to the end of the side seam  (see picture 34).   Don't join sides to the very  end, leave enough space for the armholes (see picture 35).
